Vice Chancellor of the University of Kerala P.K. Radhakrishnan has dismissed allegations regarding the inauguration of an amenity centre at the university headquarters here.
He was reacting to certain media reports that an attempt to inaugurate the facility in a secretive manner was thwarted by some Syndicate members. In a statement, he said the inordinate delay in launching the amenity centre, constructed at around ₹9 crore some months ago, had created much difficulty to students, particularly those who frequented the School of Distance Education and the various offices.
To address the problem, the Vice Chancellor had issued an instruction to open the facility, which included a waiting area and toilets, on Chingam 1, after relocating the office of the Public Relations Officer. Besides, Joint Registrar (Administration) P. Raghavan had been tasked with coordinating the related activities, Dr. Radhakrishnan said.
Controversies surrounding baseless allegations were being whipped up to push the university into an administrative impasse, he said. He held a section of the Syndicate responsible for the delays in various projects, including the proposed Chancellor’s Multiplex Complex and staff quarters, and appointments to various research departments of the university.
