The Rural police have intensified the search to nab the three involved in the alleged sexual harassment of a 19-year-old nursing student in Varkala on Tuesday.
A team comprising the DySP, DCRB, Rural and the DySP Attingal is leading the investigations on the incident that came to light on Tuesday night. Three persons have been picked up from Varkala for questioning on the basis of the statement given by the girl.
The girl, who was shifted from the private hospital in Varkala to the SAT Hospital, Thiruvananthapuram, last night is recovering. The police have approached the court to get the statement of the girl recorded by a magistrate on Wednesday itself.
The victim, belonging to the OBC community, was taken to Kollam by the main accused in his autorickshaw, where she was allegedly harassed by him and his two friends. The girl, a native of Thiruvananthapuram, is doing B. Sc nursing in a private nursing college at Varkala.
The auto driver and the victim were known to each other, police said. The girl, who suffered bouts of fits, was abandoned near the Varkala railway station in the autorickshaw by the accused. The Varkala police have registered a case.
