U.S. multinational H&R Block is set to establish its Global Technology Centre (GTC) at Technopark here, the first global technology major to drop anchor in the capital after Oracle started operations in 2012.

The centre will provide IT & IT Enabled Services and host around 300 employees in the first phase when the centre is operational and has plans to expand over 1,000 employees in a couple of year’s time.

“It will provide a great boost for Kerala and help us get highlighted in the global IT market,” said Hrishikesh Nair, CEO, Technopark..

“Senior officials of the parent company are expected to visit Thiruvananthapuram this month to sign the MoU and start operations. We have allotted 27,000 sq.ft space in Phase 3 for H&R Block.

The company is expected to start work immediately and have the first phase operational soon,” a pressnote quoting Mr.Nair said.

H&R Block, a global consumer tax services company, has revenues of over $ 3 billion and has prepared more than 720 million tax returns since its inception in 1955.
