Many students are feared to have been injured, two of them reportedly seriously, when a KSRTC bus lost control and plunged down a hillock at Urukunnu about 15 km from Punalur in Kollam district around 4.45 p.m on Monday.

The bus was carrying only students of the Ottakkal Government HIgher Secondary School. There were around 75 of them in the bus. The injured students are being transported in jeeps from the accident site to the Punalur Govenrment Hospital.

The plunge of the bus down the sheer slope was stopped by trees around 15 ft below the road. It would otherwise have fallen into the canal of the Kallada Irrigation Project way down the slope.
