23 employees absent without authorisation

The syndicate of the University of Kerala, at its meeting here on Thursday, has decided to proceed with steps to dismiss from service employees on probation who have been absent without authorisation from service.

The syndicate discussed the action to be taken against 23 employees who are currently on leave without authorisation. Regular employees who fall in this category would be given an ultimatum to rejoin service before September 15, 2012.

The syndicate decided to begin new courses in three government colleges affiliated to the university where the State government had sanctioned them. Steps would be taken to put in place postgraduate courses in government colleges where the government has given no-objection-certificate for them. The meeting resolved to issue a warning to the heads of the departments of Politics and Islamic Studies for not conducting extra-departmental elective examinations on time. The former head of the department of Sanskrit would be issued a warning for delaying examinations in the department. The syndicate also resolved to nominate R.S. Sasikumar as convener of the Syndicate staff committee and P.S. Sreekala as the convener of the student discipline committee.

Doctorates

The meeting also decided to grant doctorates to G. Geetha (Economics); K.R. Jisha, S. Sreedevi (Chemistry); N. Kavitha (English); G. Sajana (Malayalam); Smitha K. Nair (Linguistics); Susan J. Panicker (Civil Engineering); Beno Joseph (Geology); K. Manik Raj (Tamil); K. Shaji (Tamil); D. Shine (Commerce); Mini Soman (Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering); I. Rehmathunsa (Management); D.S. Shine (Environmental Science); P. Padmesh (Biotechnology) and V.S. Sudhanath (Microbiology).
