In the overall championship for the Keralotsavam, Thiruvananthapuram, Kannur and Kozhikode are leading the points table.
Though Kannur is leading in the arts competitions, the huge lead in the sports competitions has helped Thiruvananthapuram in maintaining the overall lead.
At the end of the second day of arts competitions, Thiruvananthapuram has secured 37 points.
It already has 242 points from sports competitions. Kannur has secured 59 and 128 points and Kozhikode 45 and 133 points in these categories respectively.
For the first time in the history of the Keralotsavam, the sports and arts competitions were held in separate phases and this has helped in organising the fest in a better manner this year, said P.S. Prasanth, the vice-chairman of the Kerala State Youth Welfare Board, the organiser of the festival.
Health Minister V.S. Sivakumar will be inaugurating the closing ceremony of the festival at the Government Higher Secondary School in Aruvikkara on Tuesday at 3 p.m. Minister for Youth Affairs P.K. Jayalakshmi will preside over the function.
On Monday, the second day of the arts competitions, R. Ananthakrishnan from Alappuzha won the first place in Malayalam poetry, while N.C. Rinsha from Kannur and Haritha Thulasidas from Ernakulam secured second and third. Kozhikode won the folk song (group) competition, while Kannur and Ernakulam secured second and third.
In the English competition, the first and second places went to Smiya Johnson from Thrissur, A.P. Prajeesh from Thiruvananthapuram. Keerthana Santhosh from Kollam and V.Arjun from Pathanamthitta shared the third place. The winners of the Thiruvathirakali competition were Kannur, Kozhikode and Palakkad respectively.
In the light music (female) competition, the winners were K.G. Sethulekshmi from Kottayam, U.P.Rohini from Malappuram and M.S.Anupama from Alappuzha. Nithin.V from Thiruvananthapuram won the Tabla competition. Arjun Mohan from Ernakulam and S.Vimal Kumar from Malappuram shared the second place while the third place went to R.K. Shamjith.
In the violin competition, Gautham Shankar from Kollam, P.R. Haritha from Alappuzha and V.J. Abhiram from Ernakulam were the winners. R.S. Rajalekshmi from Thiruvananthapuram won the Hindustani (vocal) competition and E. Jayashree from Kannur secured the second place.
Kasaragod swept the monoact competition winning all the places.
Teams from Malappuram won the first two places in the Kolkkali competitions while Kollam won the third place.
