Temple assets: expert panel meets

Members of the expert committee appointed by the Supreme Court for deciding on the security arrangements and preservation of assets of Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple met here on Friday and is understood to have discussed the preparedness for starting the evaluation process.

Being an elaborate process, the committee will have to make lot of arrangements for starting the process. Experts have already submitted a work plan to the Supreme Court.

The panel headed by National Museum Director-General C.V. Ananda Bose discussed the logistics, the equipment to be identified for evaluating the assets found in the vaults of the temple, and the steps to be taken for implementing the work plan submitted to the court.

Other than Mr. Bose, Archaeology Department representative M.V. Nair and Reserve Bank of India representative Vikas Sharma were among those who attended the meeting. Meanwhile, the State government has sanctioned Rs.1.54 crore for procuring security cameras for the temple. Details of the equipment to be secured for stepping up the security will be finalised next week. Experts of C-DAC and CESS will advise the government on the equipment purchase.Decisions in this regard were made at a high-level meeting chaired by Chief Minister Oommen Chandy here on Thursday.
