A member raised a protest at a Syndicate meeting of the Kerala University on Saturday, by occupying the seat of the Vice Chancellor (VC) and preventing him from sitting on it.

He was protesting against the delay in allocating rooms for Syndicate members in the university guest house, said a press release from the university. Though security personnel and police were called in to remove the member, it proved unsuccessful.

A Syndicate meeting on May 6 had decided to provide rooms for Syndicate members.

A decision on the rent rates for these rooms was part of Saturday’s agenda.
