A letter written by a student to Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan a few months ago has resulted in her school getting a bus of its own.

Divya S.S., a class 4 student of Ooruttambalam Lower Primary School, had penned a letter to Mr. Vijayan in June. This was in response to a letter he had written to school students in the State in connection with the first anniversary of his government.

Students’ troubles

In reply, Divya wrote to him pointing out that the school lacked a bus of its own, and this was putting many students to hardship. She also mentioned the efforts taken by the school to reduce the use of plastic as directed by him, and the students’ switch to eco-friendly ink pens.

Mr. Vijayan congratulated the students and promised to look into the matter of a bus for the school.

He later broached the issue with A. Sampath, MP, who sanctioned money from the MP fund to buy a 16-seater bus.

At a function at the school on Friday, Mr. Sampath and Divya together flagged off the bus.
