Stones thrown at ADGP’s house

Unidentified persons threw stones at the house of Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Sudhesh Kumar, injuring his pet dog, in a pre-dawn attack.

The strike on Mr. Kumar’s house took place against the backdrop of apparently embarrassing disclosures about senior officers imposing domestic duties, including grooming pet dogs and running private errands, on their subordinates. Mr. Sudhesh Kumar is caught in a row after his daughter has been accused of assaulting a police driver.

Peroorkada Circle Inspector Stuart Keeler, investigating officer, said Mr Kumar had reported the incident to the police after he saw his dog limping in the morning.

The CI found broken red-bricks on the porch of the ADGP’s house and noted a severe injury on the dog’s foreleg. The police were verifying whether security camera footage in the locality would yield any clue regarding the identity of the attackers. They were also researching mobile phone communication in the area at the time of the attack to ferret out leads, if any.

The attack came soon after Mr. Kumar told his superiors that his family felt insecure and threatened after the controversy erupted in the public domain. It has rattled ranking officers who said they feared there could be more such copycat incidents, more for their outsize propaganda value than the intention to cause physical harm.
