The Malankara Social Service Society (MSSS), the social work wing of the Thiruvananthapuram Archdiocese of the Syro-Malankara Church, has been accorded special consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC).

Inaugurating a function organised at the Major Archbishop’s House on Tuesday to formally mark the recognition, Speaker P. Sreeramakrishnan said that the recognition was a testimony to the dedicated efforts that the organisation has been making since its inception in 1961. Delivering the presidential address, Major Archbishop and MSSS president Cardinal Mar Baselios Cleemis Catholicos said that the special status was accorded in view of the painstaking efforts for uplifting the downtrodden sections.
