July 06, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:51 am IST - Thiruvananthapuram:

The State Human Rights Commission on Tuesday ordered oil companies to ensure that cooking gas cylinders were routinely tested for safety. Chairperson, SHRC, J.B. Koshy, issued the order on Tuesday after it was brought to his notice by Kochi Corporation councillor Thampi Subramaniam that fire accidents involving gas cylinders were on the increase in the State.

He also ordered oil companies to ensure that persons who delivered the cylinders were properly trained in handling them safely. — Special Correspondent
