The Kerala chapter of the Indian Medical Association (IMA) is launching a Statewide campaign for safe sound levels in collaboration with the Indian Cycle Embassy (ICE).

The campaign, titled National Initiative for Safe Sound (NISS), will kick off with a cycle rally from Thiruvananthapuram to Kozhikode, covering all districts of the State. Chief Minister Oommen Chandy will flag off the rally from here on Thursday, according to C. John Panicker, chief coordinator, NISS, and Prakash C. Gopinath, president, ICE.

The cycle rally seeks to alert people about the dangerous implications of constant exposure to high decibel levels at homes and in public places. Members of NISS, most of who are medical practitioners and members of the IMA, and ICE activists will take classes and conduct awareness programmes as part of the rally, which will conclude in Kozhikode on April 28, Mr. Gopinath said.
