The Kerala unit of the BJP has called for a State-wide protest on July 30, 2017 to protest the murder of RSS leader Rajesh (34) at Sreekariyam area near Thiruvananthapuram late on July 29, 2017.

Kerala BJP chief Kummanam Rajasekharan has alleged the CPI(M)’s hand in the murder, a claim refuted by the CPI(M)’s Thiruvananthapuram district secretary Anavoor Nagappan.

Mr. Rajasekharan announced the hartal after visiting the Kerala Institute of Medical Sciences Hospital in Thiruvananthapuram, where Rajesh’s body is kept.

Rajesh, a RSS karyavahak (secretary), was hacked by a four-member gang near Sreekariyam when he was coming out of shop at Kallampally after buying milk. His hand was chopped off in the attack.

He was first rushed to the Government Medical College Hospital in Thiruvananthapuram and shifted to KIMS later.

Mr. Rajasekharan said the murder and worsening law and order in the State capital will be taken up with the Centre. He blamed the police and district administration for not taking steps to check violence, which comes after the violence and attack on State BJP office in the capital on July 26, 2017.

Police have stepped up vigil in the wake of the incident.
