To what extent would one put their lives and others at risk to experience the thrill of speed on the road? Has the excitement of traveling on fast lanes made humans to lose their compassion towards fellow beings?

A short film ‘Vegatha – A life driven by speed’, produced by the Kerala Police as part of its road safety awareness drive ‘Shubayatra’, makes one to ponder over such thoughts through its strong message. The film was formally launched by actor Mohanlal who handed over its CD to City police commissioner G. Sparjan Kumar. Deputy Commissioners of Police Arul R.B. Krishna, P.N. Ramesh Kumar, Assistant Commissioners Suresh Kumar, Prathapan Nair, Anil Kumar, Santhosh Kumar and Zulphikar were also present on the occasion.

The eight-minute long film has been directed by Larish with cinematography by Sarath Vijayan, editing by Amaljith and background score by S.R. Sreekanth. The City police and Yuvathvam Film Society collaborated to produce the film.

According to sources, the short film was been uploaded in YouTube. It will be screened at various platforms including educational institutions in a bid to impress upon youngsters and others the need to drive safely in adherence to road safety rules. (EOM/SBG)
