Raj Bhavan told to display vehicle number plates

July 18, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 06:02 am IST - THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:

Transport Commissioner Tomin J. Thachankary has written to the Secretary to the Governor to display registration numbers of vehicles assigned to the Raj Bhavan. When the violation was brought to notice, the Raj Bhavan issued instructions to those concerned to comply with the norms.

“The vehicle owned by the government and assigned to the Raj Bhavan shall bear the board ‘RAJ BHAVAN’ in front and rear of the vehicle near the number plate other than the board showing the registration mark of vehicle,” a notice issued on July 12 by the Transport Commissioner stated. Non-compliance amounted to violation of the Motor Vehicles Act and the Central Motor Vehicles Rules. Mr. Thachankary added that all vehicles, except the one used by the Governor, assigned to the Raj Bhavans in neighbouring States displayed the registration number plates as prescribed in law.
