The sincere efforts made by officials attached to the Fort police station in ensuring the hospitalisation of a senior citizen with cardiac ailments on hartal day on Thursday has drawn praise from Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan.
Fifty-six-year-old Sasidharan Nair of Sreevaraham was rushed to a hospital by civil police officer G. Viji on his motorcycle after he approached him for assistance.
Mr. Nair was alone at home when he felt uneasiness.
He requested a few people in the vicinity to take him to a hospital, but they were reluctant to ply their vehicle on the hartal day.
He then managed to walk to the Sreevaraham market where he approached the civil police officer who rushed him to a private hospital nearby on his motorcycle.
However, the doctors said that Mr. Sasidharan had suffered a massive heart attack and recommended that he be shifted to the Thiruvananthapuram Government Medical College Hospital.
On being alerted, Fort Sub-Inspector Shajimon immediately dispatched a vehicle from the police station.
CM’s praise
In a Facebook post, the Chief Minister said the police officials have set an example that can be emulated by all public servants by sparing no efforts in saving a life.
