Plea for virology institute

Chief Minister Oommen Chandy has written to Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda that a full-fledged virology institute be set up in Kerala, a statement issued by Health Minister V.S. Sivakumar here on Saturday said.

Kerala has to depend on virology diagnostic services offered by the Manipal Virus Research Centre during epidemic seasons when various new and emerging viral diseases trouble the State and this has been causing some difficulties. Hence urgent steps should be taken to consider the State’s demand, the Chief Minister has asked in the letter.
