The CPI(M) has no role in the murder of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh worker Rajesh, CPI(M) State secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan has said.

Mr. Balakrishnan told reporters here on Sunday that the accused in the case were members of other parties. One of them was the son of an INTUC worker and another, the son of a BMS worker. The BJP was trying to gain political mileage from a regional incident. The party was trying to blow up the issue and create anarchy and tension across the State. The BJP was encouraging violence, he said.

The CPI(M) had taken strong action against party workers involved in the violent incidents in the capital. Partymen involved in such incidents had been suspended. The government had also initiated action and brought the accused to book. Mr. Balakrishnan said when BJP men had attacked his house, no party leader had condemned the incident. BJP workers had openly threatened to disrupt peace. Still no BJP leader had condemned such incidents, he said. The CPI(M) would not protect workers involved in such incidents, he said.
