Health Minister V.S. Sivakumar travelled along with a few students of Government Higher Secondary School for Girls, Cotton Hill, around the city as the inaugural ride of a new school bus bought for the school. The Minister had allocated Rs.15.35 lakh for the bus from his local area development fund.

Mr. Sivakumar made it a point to appreciate the efforts of a team of students from the school who had carried out a socio-economic survey of the Rajaji Nagar Colony here. It was on the basis of this comprehensive report that decision was taken to start an Urban Primary Health Centre for the colony residents, he told them.

The Minister also said that the government would be providing support for the youth in Rajaji Nagar who were unable to complete their education or pursue higher education owing to financial constraints.

Councillor K. Suresh Kumar and teachers of the school also participated at the inaugural function at the school here on Friday.
