Project part of budget proposals

The City Corporation’s project for putting up napkin vending machines and incinerators in government schools was launched on Friday. Mayor K. Chandrika inaugurated the project at the Government Higher Secondary School in Peroorkada.

The project titled ‘Penkutti naadinte aishwaryam’ was part of the budget proposals for the financial year 2015-16. A majority of the girl students in government schools are from economically backward families.

A total of 35 napkin vending units and incinerators will be set up in 26 schools in the city.

An amount of Rs.30 lakh have been earmarked for the project. Health Standing Committee Chairperson S. Pushpalatha presented a report on the project.
