The BJP concluded its public campaign for Lok Sbha elections in Kerala on Tuesday with its star campaigners Narendra Modi and L.K. Advani addressing rallies in the northernmost and southernmost constituencies of the State respectively.
While Mr. Modi unleashed a scathing attack on Defence Minister A.K. Antony and State government in Kasaragod, Mr. Advani’s speech in Thiruvananthapuram was a tame affair. Mr. Modi found fault with Mr. Antony’s handling of the Defence portfolio and said he did little for Kerala.
Mr. Modi was campaigning for K. Surendran in Kasaragod.
In Thiruvananthapuram, Mr. Advani suggested that party candidate O. Rajagopal may become a Minister if elected. People were flowing into the BJP and this election would herald a historic change. The BJP would get a majority in its own right at the Centre and there would be a party representative from Kerala. Communist influence was now limited to West Bengal, Kerala and Tripura. However, India would totally go out of Communist influence over time, as had happened in other parts of the world, he said.
