Mayor V.K. Prasanth on Tuesday visited the pension section of the city Corporation, which has been facing issues including space and staff crunch.
It has been decided to shift the Akshaya centre, which is now located near the pension section, to the election section in the next building. This will free up more space for the pension section, which has hundreds of visitors daily.
To clear backlog
More data entry operators will also be appointed in the pension section to clear the backlog in data entry.
Beggar rehab centre
The Mayor also visited the new beggar rehabilitation centre at Kalladimukham that is located adjacent to the residential flats built as part of the Basic Services for the Urban Poor (BSUP) project.
The Mayor said that the new centre at Kalladimukham would be inaugurated on April 14.
