The answer scripts of 24 students who took the M.Ed. examinations at the Sree Buddha College of Teacher Education, Muthukulam, Alappuzha, were seized on Friday by a two-member squad of the University of Kerala following the detection of mass copying at the institution.

Syndicate members R.S. Sasikumar and P. Reghunathan also seized a large quantity of chits, handwritten notes and printed sheets of paper from inside and around the three halls where the examinations were being held.

“As soon as I entered one hall at the college, I saw notebooks, papers and chits being thrown out in large quantities. It was very clear that the copying was being done with the full knowledge of the teachers in the halls. We also found such papers outside the halls. We were stunned by the sheer volume of materials seized from the college,” Mr. Sasikumar told The Hindu .

Syndicate member Jyothikumar Chamakkala said the university would discuss punitive measures, including the cancellation of affiliation to the college, at the next Syndicate meeting scheduled on March 12.
