Man injured in train accident dies

A 55-year-old man, identified as Sambasivan, was killed reportedly after being struck down by a train at Edavilakam here on Saturday.

The police said Sambasivan, an employee with a roadside eatery, was a hearing and speech impaired and apparently did not hear the train coming from behind him as he was walking towards a temple alongside the railway tracks at around 7.45 a.m.

He was reportedly struck by a protruding edge of the train and sustained serious injuries. He was rushed to a hospital by local people who saw him lying injured near the tracks. However, he died around 9.15 a.m. — Special Correspondent
