Loknath Behera’s posting draws flak

June 29, 2016 12:00 am | Updated September 16, 2016 04:57 pm IST - Thiruvananthapuram:

The Left Democratic Front (LDF) government drew flak from the Opposition in the Legislative Assembly on Tuesday for removing T.P. Senkumar from the post of State Police Chief (SPC) and appointing Loknath Behera in his stead.

Opposing the motion of thanks to the Governor’s address, Congress Legislator P.T. Thomas said the controversial posting was the manifestation of the covert understanding the CPI(M) had stuck much earlier with the BJP. He alleged that Mr. Behera, during his tenure in the CBI, had “helped cover up the crimes of Narendra Modi and Amit Shah.”

Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has been too cosy with Prime Minister Modi lately. Hence, it was not surprising that the LDF preferred Mr. Behera over Mr. Senkumar, a decorated officer known for his integrity and professionalism.
