Light Metro in time-bound manner, says Chandy

The Light Metro proposed in Thiruvananthapuram and Kozhikode cities to solve traffic and transportation problems will be executed in a time-bound manner, Chief Minister Oommen Chandy has said.

He was talking to presspersons after the weekly Cabinet meeting on Wednesday.

On DPR

Asked why the government was taking time to give approval to the detailed project report (DPR) submitted by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation, Mr. Chandy said the government was looking into all its aspects as apprehensions had been raised by legislators.

Vizhinjam project

He said the government was hopeful of the Vizhinjam international multipurpose seaport project taking off as those who had evinced interest were now positive about the project after the talks he had with them.

The Union government had also given an assurance on relaxation of cabotage law. Vallarapadam which faced problems initially would become profitable and Vizhinjam would become successful, Mr. Chandy said.
