LDF confused over liquor policy: Sudheeran

April 23, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:44 am IST - Thiruvananthapuram:

Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee president V.M. Sudheeran on Friday said the Left Democratic Front had been caught in a web of confusion and lack of clarity over its liquor policy. The party was still groping in the dark in this regard.

In a statement here, Mr. Sudheeran said the question that haunted the CPI(M) was which of the divergent views, expressed by CPI(M) general secretary Sitaram Yechury and Polit Bureau member Pinarayi Vijayan, represented the party’s liquor policy.

The LDF election manifesto’s references related to the liquor policy clearly indicated that the CPI(M)’s ultimate goal was to appease the liquor lobby. “Therefore, the CPI(M) should formulate a liquor policy aimed at the welfare of the people,” he said.
