Kilimanoor water project to be launched

The long wait of residents of Kilimanoor, Pazhayakunnumel and Madavoor panchayats in the district for a drinking water project is finally over.

Using the Vamanapuram river as the source, the Water Resources Department had designed the project with multi-stage water purification using modern scientific equipment, Attingal MLA B. Sathyan said. The project that ensured potable water for over one lakh people had been implemented using ₹31 crore from the State plan scheme. Quality was being ensured through purification processes and scientific testing at every stage, he said.

Lab, plant in place

For this, a fully-equipped laboratory and treatment plant had been arranged.

Measures were taken to distribute clean water without any wastage. Distribution pipelines of lengths 58 km in Kilimanoor panchayat, 40 km in Pazhayakunnumel panchayat, and 12 km in Madavoor panchayat had been laid. In addition, a 13-km-long distribution mechanism had been arranged in the Madavoor panchayat by including in the comprehensive drinking water scheme for Pallickal and Madavoor panchayats. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan would inaugurate the project on December 18. At the function presided by Minister for Water Resources Mathew T. Thomas, legislator V. Joy; A. Sampath, MP, district panchayat president V.K. Madhu, and Water Resource Department Managing Director A. Shynamol would participate, Mr. Sathyan said.
