The Kaliyoottu Mahotsavam at the Major Sri Vellayani Devi Temple will conclude on Wednesday. The festival, which happens once in every three years, is celebrated over a two-month period. The Paranett ceremony, which marks the end of the Kaliyoottu, will be held at 10.15 p.m. on Tuesday.
During the ceremony, the Devi idol will be placed on a raised platform and the idol of Darikan will be placed on another platform and a confrontation between the two imagined.
On Wednesday morning, the two idols will be brought to the ground, in a recreation of the fight on land.
The Aratt will be held at the Vellayani lake at 5.30 p.m.
