JSS activists march to Assembly

April 02, 2013 01:51 pm | Updated 01:51 pm IST - Thiruvananthapuram:

The police on Monday used its water cannon to disperse a large group of Janadhipathya Samrakshana Samithi (JSS) activists who marched to the Assembly in protest against Government Chief Whip P.C. George’s alleged defamatory comments against their party chief and veteran politician, K.R. Gouri.

The police stopped the protesters well away from the Assembly. They sat on the road and shouted slogans demanding Mr. George’s resignation and an unconditional apology from him.

The police used the water cannon when some of the protesters tried to force their way into the Assembly by attempting to pull down the iron barricades the police had placed on the road.
