IT@School to set up smart classrooms

August 02, 2010 08:56 pm | Updated 08:56 pm IST - THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:

The IT@School project will set up smart classrooms in 140 schools from September.

These schools will be equipped with at least five classrooms with multimedia projectors and laptops, computer labs and specially trained teachers under the ‘Model ICT School' programme.

Every MLA will select a school each from his or her Assembly constituency for the programme. Education Minister M.A. Baby has written to all MLAs to give their choice before August 15.

The selected schools will use school management software for monitoring activities in the school, evaluation and documentation. Besides, the teachers will be trained to prepare digital resources for teaching. Students will be able to share the outcome of their activities with students in other schools through the Internet.
