IFFK’s many firstsp2 with logo, also kollam 2, kozhikode 2

The 22nd International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK) taking place in the capital from December 8 will mark the first screening for 36 films. For 4 of these films it will be their first screening at global level.

Fete’s opening film ‘Insult’ will be screened in India for the first time. In the International Competition section eight films will see their first screening. Malayalam presence in the Competition category, Two persons (Randuper) and Garden of Desire (Aedan) will also see their global release at the fete.

The other films in the competition section being screened for the first time are Malila- The Farewell Flower (Thailand), Returnee (Kazakhstan), Symphony for Ana (Spain), The World of Which We Dream Doesn’t Exist (Mongolia), White Bridge (Iran) and Grain (English).

In the Malayalam Cinema Today category, Heart of a Dog (Nayinte Hridayam) directed by Sreekrishnan K.P. will also see its first screening at the fete. The fete will also mark the first screening of around 20 films in the World Cinema category.

Other films having their first screening include Nikhil Allug directed Shade, Sanjib Dey’s III Smoking Barrels, Brazilian movie Stories That Our Cinema (did) Not Tell, Malaysian movie Aqerat, Mahamat-Saleh Haroun’s A Season in France and Jury Film The Swaying Waterlily.

15th anniversary for Audience Award, 10th for Festival Auto Facility

As an appreciation for the movie watching audience Kerala State Chalachitra Academy instituted the Audience Award at the IFFK for the first time in 2002. T.V. Chandran’s Danny won the first Audience Award. This years marks the 15th anniversary of the institution of this award.

The Festival Auto facility, which ensures free travel for delegates was also a first in the country when it was started in 2007. The 22nd IFFk marks the 10th anniversary of this facility. On this edition special facilities for differently-abled and senior citizens have been arranged, IFFK informed. Special attention on the security arrangements for delegates will also be given.
