A three-member gang which went around the district on motorbikes at night snatching costly mobile phones from pedestrians has been arrested.
Suresh V. Nair, CI, Thampanoor, said the three – Vishnu, 21, Krishna Prasad, 29, and Arun, 28 –targeted late-night pedestrians, mostly those returning home after movies. They struck twice on Tuesday night, snatching phones worth Rs.15,000 and Rs.12,000 separately, at Killippalam and on the Central Theatre road.
They were nabbed by a team led by Mr. Nair, and Aji Chandran, Circle Inspector, Fort. The three have assault and attempt-to-murder cases registered against them in the Malayinkeezhu police station as well. They were produced in court and remanded in judicial custody.
