The ambitious project of the government to provide houses for all landless and homeless in the next five years and make government hospitals citizen-friendly will be executed in mission mode.
Announcing this at a press conference after the Cabinet meeting on Tuesday, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said the comprehensive education renewal project and the Haritha Keralam project would also be executed in mission mode.
Mr. Vijayan said the four projects would be implemented with financial assistance of citizens and well-wishers.
The Cabinet also gave its nod for six missions that would have a five-year term to execute six projects. The missions had been tasked to come up with detailed project reports before November 1 to get it approved by the Cabinet.
Under the comprehensive housing scheme, apart from ensuring safety and access to service and welfare schemes, job training would be provided to a member of the family.
Apartment complexes where many can live under one block were being planned and beneficiaries could own the house in 20 years on payment of a monthly amount.
Education from primary level, special coaching for weak students, stress on IT, counselling for teenagers, orientation for higher education, skill development centres, and palliative care centres were also being planned, he said.
A three-tier mechanism at the State, district, and panchayat level would be set up to execute the programme.
