The Museum police on Friday arrested Zakir Hussain, 45, of Vazhimukku, near Balaramapuram, on charges of duping a prominent electronic and home appliances outlet at Pattom by not paying cash after purchasing goods for around Rs.2.5 lakh.
Hussain had bought two LED television sets, three mobile phones, and cameras among other appliances and left after giving the outlet a fake cheque. The fraud came to light when the outlet manager approached the bank with the cheque. Hussain was an accused in many fraud cases.
Two heldTwo persons – Jasmine Kumar of Athiyannoor and Shyam Kumar of Marannaloor — were arrested from Jagathy by the police on Thursday. The two are wanted for various crimes including burglary and sale of drugs, and have around 20 cases registered against them.
ArrestedSaji, 55, of Karunagapally has been arrested by the Valiathura police on charges of robbing a woman from Tamil Nadu of her 19-sovereign-gold chain while the two were travelling to Thiruvananthapuram from Sri Lanka on a flight earlier this week.
Drunk drivingA 27-year-old ambulance driver, who drove a two-wheeler drunk and hit six vehicles before crashing into a shop near Pothencode, has been arrested. The police said Vishnu of Vattakarikkakom had hit two cars and four other two-wheelers in less than 10 minutes.
