A section of State employees and teachers will go on strike on Thursday to press their various demands.
The government has announced dies non (no work, no pay) to tackle the strike and asked all heads of departments to communicate to the State headquarters information regarding the attendance level in all offices by 10.30 a.m. and not grant leave for anyone other than for emergencies.
An official press note here on Wednesday quoted Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala as saying that full protection would be provided to employees and teachers who report for duty.
If those supporting the strike try to obstruct those reporting for duty from entering the workplace, the police would take stringent action against them, Mr. Chennithala said.
KGMOA stance
The Kerala Government Medical Officers’ Association (KGMOA) has declared its support to the proposed strike by various service organisations on January 22.
As an essential service, the KGMOA would not participate in the strike on January 22, but if the government’s intention was to delay pay revision any further, the KGMOA would join the agitation in future.
