Three forest officials have been suspended for dereliction of duty following a preliminary inquiry into the unearthing of skeletons of five elephants in the Malayattoor forest division.

The suspended officials are Forest Range Officer, Thundathil, P. K. Rajesh; Deputy Range Forest Officer, Karimpani, K. P. Sanil Kumar; and Section Forest Range Officer C.C. Pathrose, official sources said here.

The suspension is based on the preliminary inquiry by Additional Principal Chief Forest Conservator (Vigilance) Surendra Kumar.

The three were placed under suspension by Principal Forest Chief Conservator and Head, Forest Force, B.S. Corrie.

The skeletons were recovered during combing operations carried out in the forest division on the tip-off that poachers had killed elephants. – Special Correspondent
