The Drugs Control Department has filed a case against the owner of a hotel at General Hospital junction, after seizing significant quantities of drugs, disposable syringes, and needles from the hotel’s storeroom on Thursday. The drugs, which included antibiotics, IV fluids and IV drugs, were found stored inside Hotel Meena by officials of the Food Safety wing who had arrived for an inspection at the eatery as part of a drive against pan masala. They intimated the Drugs Control Department officials, who booked a case under the provisions of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, for stocking drugs without licence and under unhygienic storage conditions.

Officials said that according to initial information, the drugs belonged to a medical shop nearby, which had chosen to store it in the hotel’s storeroom for want of space at the shop.
