The soulful musical journey of Malayalam filmdom’s beloved music director M. K. Arjunan came alive on the silver screen at the Kalabhavan theatre on Monday in the form of a documentary which speaks of his life and those with whom he had close relations.

Titled “Music By M. K. Arjunan” the documentary produced by the Thiruvananthapuram Music Fraternity and directed by Sajiv Pazhoor was unveiled by the Leader of the Opposition V. S. Achuthanandan. The documentary walks the viewer down memory lane to 1969 when Arjunan master shot into fame through the film ‘Karutha Paurnami”.

About 60 film songs, including those scored for dramas, directed by the maestro find a mention in the documentary. The documentary does not fail to remind the viewer that “master” who scored music for more than 160 films and created more than 1,000 songs never received a State award or a national award.

The music director’s life of travails finds a powerful narrative in this film which took two-and-a-half years to complete.
