K. Sudhakaran, MP, has said that the Communist Party of India (Marxist) Idukki district unit secretary M.M. Mani's revelations about political killings in the district has exposed the party's ‘murder politics' in the State.
Terming Mr. Mani's disclosures as arrogant and unbelievable, Mr. Sudhakaran said at a press conference here on Saturday that the latest revelations from a party leader rendered irrelevant all the attempts of CPI(M) State unit secretary Pinarayi Vijayan to absolve the party of the murder of Revolutionary Marxist Party (RMP) leader T.P. Chandrasekharan. Peace-loving workers in the CPI(M) should look within themselves in the wake of the public outpouring by Mr. Mani. The police should immediately register a case against Mr. Mani and include him as an accused in the cases of murders he referred to, the MP said.
Mr. Sudhakaran also said that the murder of Chandrasekharan was more a revenge-killing than a political murder. He said the march by CPI(M) activists to the Rural SP office at Vadakara was to scuttle the investigation by intimidation. He also demanded that the police should interrogate party district unit secretary P. Jayarajan and T.V. Rajesh, MLA, in connection with the investigation into the murder of Indian Union Muslim League activist Abdul Shukkoor.
Mr. Sudhakaran also said that the recent explosions occurred in different parts of the district were an indication that the CPI(M) was amassing weapons in preparation for waging war. The CPI(M) had no right to be part of a democracy, he added.
