Construction board to be reorganised

Fake memberships will be weeded out: Minister

March 12, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:42 am IST - THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:

The government will consider enhancing the allowances and other benefits provided through the Kerala Building and other Construction Workers Welfare Fund after reorganising the related board and weeding out fake memberships, Minister for Labour Shibu Baby John has said. He was replying to a calling attention motion in the Assembly by K. Muraleedharan.

There were 15.5 lakh members in the board and five lakh pensioners. “We have found that there are fake memberships and multiple memberships in welfare boards. Many are misusing the trade union certificate for getting membership,” he said.
