Class X student’s design on Children’s Day stamp

The design submitted by Athul S. Raj, a Class X student, has been selected for the Children’s Day stamp to be brought out by the Kerala State Council for Child Welfare this year.

According to council general secretary S.P. Deepak, the design has been selected by noted artist Nemom Pushparaj from over 600 entries submitted by students. Athul, a student of MD Seminary Higher Secondary School, Kottayam, is the son of S. Deepa and G. Selvaraj. He is being trained by artist G. Vinod, who teaches at Government High School, Chengalam, Kottayam. He has also won the Lalithakala Akademi award for child artist and the runner-up prize for designing the Independence Day stamp by the Postal Department. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will formally launch the stamp during Children’s Day celebrations on November 14.
