Central aid for solid waste management

The Central government had sanctioned Rs.294.72 lakh for the solid waste treatment project in the capital city, a statement issued by Shashi Tharoor, MP, said here on Monday.

The statement said that Union Minister for Urban Development Kamal Nath had conveyed to Mr. Tharoor that the amount had been sanctioned as additional Central assistance for the project.

‘‘The Central government is bearing 80 per cent of the cost of the project (cost of the project is Rs.24.56 crore). The MP has urged the Minister to expedite the release of fund to speed up the implementation of the project,'' it said.
