February 01, 2010 06:01 pm | Updated February 02, 2010 06:31 pm IST - THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:

The toll in the collapse of a multi-storied building at Thampanoor here on Monday went up to six with the recovery of five more bodies from the debris on Tuesday.

Police and Fire and Rescue Service personnel toiled for the whole day to extricate the bodies from the pile of masonry that came crashing down, burying the team of labourers including migrants from otherstates, who were involved in renovating the 80-year- old building.

Search and rescue efforts were continuing late in the evening with the help of earthmovers.

Traffic along the route was partially restored on Tuesday for the convenience of commuters alighting at the Central railway station and the long distance bus terminus at Thampanoor.
