Award for backward classes corporation

: The Kerala State Backward Classes Development Corporation (KSBCDC) has been selected for the Best Social Finance Institution award for its role in the success of the innovative consumer loan scheme implemented for the Grand Kerala Shopping Festival.

The KSBCDC disbursed loans to the tune of Rs.10.79 crore for purchasing consumer durables at very low interest rate during the shopping festival, Minister for Tourism A.P. Anilkumar said. The target fixed for disbursal of loans was Rs.3 crore during the festival period.

The award will be presented by Chief Minister Oommen Chandy during the valedictory function of the shopping festival. Kudumbasree workers Safna and Sushilabhai of Malappuram and Saramma of Kollam will also be presented with awards by the Chief Minister for enrolling the maximum number of trade establishments for the GKSF.
