Autonomy recommended for 9 colleges

The State government proposes to grant autonomy to nine more colleges in the State, Kerala State Higher Education Council Vice Chairman T.P. Sreenivasan has said. The State government had sent the list of colleges to the University Grants Commission (UGC) for a decision.

Colleges

The colleges recommended were CMS College, Kottayam; UC College, Aluva; Vimala College, Thrissur; St. Joseph’s College, Irinjalakuda; Marian College, Kuttikanam; Mar Athanasius College, Kothamangalam; St. Albert’s College, Ernakulam; Assumption College, Changanassery; and Mercy College, Palakkad, Mr. Sreenivasan said . The UGC would send its inspection teams to these colleges to ascertain the academic and infrastructure quality before taking a decision. The colleges were selected on the basis of an appraisal by an expert committee, he said.
