Arrested on charge of fraud

The Vanchiyoor police on Friday arrested a youth for allegedly duping several persons of large amounts of money after making false assurances of securing government jobs.

According to the police, Ajith, alias, Preettu, 24, who hails from Konni in Pathanamthitta, was arrested. He was found to have obtained large sums from several persons pretending to be a Secretariat employee.

He had promised them government jobs and interest-free loans in return for the amounts.

He was also wanted in a case relating to the failure to pay the rent of a lodge room where he had stayed for long.
