The State government has facilitated evacuation of almost all the Malayalis trapped in flood-hit Srinagar.
The government provided facilities for travel to Delhi and their onward journey home to as many as 415 persons stranded in various hotels in Srinagar.
From among the tourists, who were caught in the heavy floods, 69 reached Delhi around noon on Sunday and another 51 persons were expected to reach there by evening. By Sunday evening, government officials were working to ferry the remaining 20-odd persons from Kerala to Delhi by Monday.
An eight-member pilgrim group from Kerala that was stranded in Kashmir was brought to Delhi. A statement by Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala’s office here said the control rooms opened at Srinagar airport, Delhi, and the police headquarters here would continue to function for some more time.
Salary donatedThe Home Minister announced that he was donating one month’s salary and other emoluments towards the Kashmir relief fund. The employees of his office will donate a day’s wages. KPCC president V.M. Sudheeran sent a cheque for Rs.5 lakh as PCC’s donation towards the J&K CM’s Relief Fund.
