Action against 40 LPG agencies

May 05, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 07:23 am IST - Thiruvananthapuram:

The Legal Metrology Department has found short-selling of subsidised cooking gas in at least 40 agencies in the State.

The variation in weight of the cylinders ranged between 2 kg and 5 kg.

Officials said they found equipment ostensibly used to siphon off gas from cylinders.

Fine to be imposed

The errant agencies would be fined for short-selling. Some agency owners contended that the variation in weight was due to seepage of gas from cylinders and not deliberate.

State-wide raid

Controller Muhammad Iqbal and Joint Controller C. Venukumar led the Statewide operation.
